MS380Q Concrete Moisture Meter
Keywords: Concrete Moisture Meter, Digital Moisture Tester, Building Material Moisture Meter, Portable Moisture Detector, Gypsum Moisture Meter
Fast, Accurate Moisture Readings for Construction Materials.
The MS380Q is a digital moisture meter designed to measure the moisture content of concrete, floors, walls, gypsum board, and other building materials. Using high-frequency sensing with automatic temperature compensation, it delivers an instant, reliable reading on a backlit LCD display — making it well suited to the flooring, construction, decoration, and renovation industries. Ten selectable material codes let the meter adapt its calibration to the exact substrate being tested, from gypsum mortar to cement screed.
Key Features
- Portable and Compact — Lightweight, easy to carry and operate on site, with instant moisture readings.
- Backlit Digital Display — The LCD screen with backlight stays clear and readable even in dim or dark working conditions.
- Saves Time and Cost — Monitoring dryness on the spot helps prevent moisture-related deterioration and decay during storage, keeping material processing efficient and convenient.
- High-Frequency Sensing with Auto Temperature Compensation — The meter operates on a high-frequency principle and automatically compensates for temperature, improving reading accuracy across conditions.
- Flexible Power Control — Turn the meter off manually at any time, or let it auto power-off after 5 minutes of inactivity to save battery life.
- Data Hold and Low-Battery Alert — Hold a reading on screen for easy recording, and get an on-screen warning when battery power runs low.
- Max-Value Memory — Store the highest reading recorded during a measurement session for quick reference.
- Adjustable Alarm Thresholds — Two configurable alarm levels (AL1 and AL2) flag when a reading falls outside your defined moisture range.

Material Code Reference
The MS380Q includes 10 selectable material codes for calibrated readings across different substrates. Common codes include:
Selected material codes and measuring ranges
| Code | Measuring Range | Reference Material |
| Cd00 | 0 – 70% | General reference |
| Cd02 | 0 – 6.0% H₂O | Gypsum mortar |
| Cd07 | 0 – 4.0% CM | Cement mortar screed-coat |
| Cd09 | 0 – 3.5% H₂O | Concrete |
Additional material codes are available; select the code that matches the material being tested for the most accurate reading.
How It Works
- Zeroing — Press the zero key with the sensor untouched by any surface before each use; this reduces the effect of ambient temperature and humidity on the reading.
- Taking a Measurement — Press the sensor flat against the surface of the material and wait for the display to stabilize. The sensor must sit flush against the material, not tilted, for an accurate reading.
- Code Calibration — If the displayed value differs noticeably from the known actual value, adjust the material code up or down until the reading matches, then reuse that code for the same material going forward.
- Max-Hold — Activate the max function to capture and hold the highest reading during a measurement session.
- Backlight — Toggle the backlight on or off as ambient lighting requires.
Applications
The MS380Q is suited for moisture testing across a range of construction and renovation tasks:
- Concrete slabs and structural elements before flooring installation
- Gypsum board and plastered walls
- Cement mortar screed-coats and floor leveling layers
- General building material moisture checks in construction, decoration, and renovation work
