Optical Test Instruments — Laboratory & Sugar Refractometer Series
Keywords: Abbe refractometer, refractometer, refractive index meter, sugar refractometer, optical refractometer
Accurate Refractive Index & Sugar Content Measurement — From 1.3000 to 1.7000 nD.
The 2WAJ is an Abbe refractometer that measures the refractive index (nD) and mean dispersion (nF – nC) of transparent and translucent liquids and solids, with a refractive index range of 1.3000–1.7000 nD and an accuracy of ±0.0002 nD. It reads sugar content in saccharose solutions from 0 to 95% (refractive index 1.333–1.531), making it a dependable optical instrument for laboratories, quality control and production.
Based on the critical-angle method, the 2WAJ gives clear, repeatable readings through a 30× reading system. An optional thermostat connection extends temperature-controlled measurement from 0 to 70°C, so you can check refractive index and concentration across a wide range of samples and conditions.
1. Wide Refractive Index Range — Measures 1.3000 to 1.7000 nD with an accuracy of ±0.0002 nD for precise results.
2. Sugar Content Reading — Determines the percentage of sugar in saccharose solutions from 0 to 95%, ideal for food and sugar refining.
3. Liquid & Solid Testing — Measures transparent and translucent liquids and solids with a smooth polished surface.
4. 30× High-Magnification Reading — Clear graticule and scale for accurate, easy-to-read values.
5. Temperature-Controlled Measurement — Thermostat connection enables refractive index measurement from 0 to 70°C.
6. Mean Dispersion Calculation — Determines the mean dispersion (nF – nC) to evaluate optical performance and purity.
1. Clean the Prisms — Wipe the incident and refracting prism surfaces with a 1:1 alcohol–ether mix to remove any dirt.
2. Apply the Sample — Drop the tested liquid onto the refracting prism, close the incident prism and lock it with the knob, ensuring a bubble-free, even film.
3. Focus the Eyepiece — Adjust the diopter ring so the cross-lines appear sharp.
4. Find the Boundary — Turn the refractive index knob to bring the bright/dark boundary into the center of the cross-lines, then adjust the dispersion knob to remove color fringing.
5. Read the Value — The scale below the eyepiece field gives the refractive index; for sugary liquids, read the sugar concentration percentage directly.
6. Clean After Use — Wipe the prisms immediately after testing and store the instrument in its case with desiccant.
